gearbox problem?

Forum:

hi there, after a bit of advice actually.
I have a 1992 fourtrak 2.8tdx (f75?) and it's great fun..
the only problem i have is a noise as i decelerate. it sounds a bit like a dry bearing, a sort of metal on metal noise. It's fine if i'm freewheeling or accelerating and there is plenty of oil in the transfer box and gearbox. could it be thrust/release bearing? any advice is appreciated

gearbox problem?

I had the same type of noise it turned out to be the gear box i striped the box down but could not find anything wrong i was told it was caused by the gear box haveing a switch that puts the turbo on full time when in third and fourth gear{that strains the gear box} i changed the box and disconected the switch and have had no probs since
