Applause, died, what to do, scrap?

Forum:

Hi All,

My car doesn't start. I have just had the power steering and fan belt done but it wouldn't start after this. One month ago I put it in for a full service and the mechanics said it needed new distributor cap. I believe this to be the reason.

It's my beloved GLXi 1.6 and I have already spent 200 on this car in the last month and don't wish to spend any more.

I am unsure what to do. Scrap, or hang about for someone to buy it, How much do you think my car would sell for.And ARE there ANY people out there who want to buy an applause?????? Sad

The downsides...
- The brakes need new discs and pads.
- Needs new dissy cap.
- MOT has just run out.

The upsides...
-The interior is perfect, the exterior is pretty good, no rust, just a small patch of delamination.
-The engine is in great condition, it has a quiet upper end 'ticking' but still goes very well and there is no water/oil mixing.

I have really enjoyed driving this car and hope it goes to someone who can make good use of it, I dont wish to scrap it.

I would appreciate peoples thoughts as to my course of action, cos at the moment I am thinking it is a scrap job.

Whether you scrap the car or

Whether you scrap the car or not would, to me, depend on a couple of factors:

Do you want to keep the car or are ready for a change?

Can you carry out the necessary repairs yourself?

There is around £100 - 120 of parts required, less if you use e-bay and less than a days worth of your time to fit the parts.

Is the car worth that level of investment from you?

If not sell it cheap for spares, and move on to a new project.
