Electrical fault

Forum:

Our fourtrak stops and cuts out in the bad weather. After rain for about 12 hours. It blows fuses ( not always the same ones) first time it blew the tail fuse but we could drive it in the dark for a short while.
The last time it blew the engine fuse so it would not even start. When I had the car the interior light bulb was missing which I replaced but suspec the wet is getting into the circuits somewhere. I have removed ther bulb incase it is the door switches getting wet. Have also greased the tow sockets and other light connectors.
Cant find the fault anywhere and now it runs again ?? Now come on lads help me out here or my wife will refuse to drive it and it will have to go.( Sad

Carefully examine the rear wi

Carefully examine the rear wiring loom that runs under vehicle..starting just under the passengers seat to rear of car.
Sometimes the clips that hold the loom onto the underside corrode and break off..the result is a sagging loom..especially where it goes over the rear chassis member (just in front of rear wheels). The loom can chaff and eventually cause a major short. This happened to me...mega hassle to repair and a potential fire hazzard.

Electrical fault

Thanks Mike I'll have a look. It makes sense after speaking to an auto elec friend last night. He says it sounds like rear lighting chaffing loom etc. I still have a short warrantee but didnt want it to go in to the garage unless I could hone in on the problem first. Funny though it only happens in the rain or it may just be a coincidence. Besides that I am very pleased with it.
I will let you know how it goes for future reference.
