Veg Oil or Biodiesel: long term

Forum:

Has anyone out there converted their 4trak to run on 100% veg oil or biodiesel and been running for 12 months. I wanted to know about any longer term problems.
Thanks

HI i have been runing my indi for 4 years on 50/50 mix rape & diesel, 86,000 miles trouble free, i also ran my last fourtrak on 100 rape seed oil for over 7 years start on diesel then switch over. made a tank from a old gas cylinder and used a heater matrix fit and brazed inside tank from ford escort to heat the fuel, it takes about 15 mins to get to temperature.the injectors when removed where spotles (115000 miles ) when it was sold it had 170000 miles on clock the engine was removed and fit in to a rangerover. i have recond engines for thirty years and never seen injectors as clean,(and internal components)
they love it.there is a lot of crap about it gloging injectors,(pump damage) on internet but this must be by fuel company fans .
after about two tank fills you wil need to change your fuel filter just keep one with you this will happen about three times then thats it all the old crap gone from your tank its worth runing on it for a few weeks just to clean and lube your fuel system all the best jako

Veg Oil

Hi

'90 2.8 TDX Fourtrak
Have been running on 50% pure new rapeseed oil mix for approx 12months and have had no mechanical problems, noticeable smoke on a cold start, lumpy initial start again from cold, smell ??.Quieter engine when warm!!More acceleration, faster response to throttle ,motorway and local driving no problems, oil and fuel filter changed as normal. No problems with emissions for MOT. As of now, no cause for concern.

And YES I would like to hear from any one who has had cause to pull down a engine after running a veg oil mix,as to what they found, re- carbon deposits/piston rings and corrosion/wear on fuel pumps /injectors, oil contamination, valve burning, ECT.
