Forum:
I have had my Daihatsu hijet 993cc 1993 since June this year we where having a few problems starting it over xmas and got a local garage out who said it needed a service which we had done.I work as a childminder so I don't do long runs in the car. Within eight days of this service and about 20 miles the car broke down. After this it wouldn't start then when it did the car is blowing constant thick white smoke. The local garge won't accept any liabilaty and they say it will cost around £700 to fix but they haven't even looked at the car. Could anyone out there give us any idea as to what is wrong with the car? I would be really grateful for any help at all many thanks Janet
white smoke
White smoke can be brake fluid being drawn in from the servo - if it has one, along with excess air (hence rough running).
Another source of white 'smoke' might be that the engine is consuming water via a blown head gasket or cracked block.
Check your oil, brake fluid and water levels & report back!
