Where can I get my Sirion Cam / timing belt replaced?

Forum:

Hi,
I'm a new member!
I have a 2000/X reg Sirion +, 1ltr which I've owned from new, it has done just over 56,000 miles and I want to change the cam belt early (should be at 60,000), I can do things like changing the filters spark plugs and oil, but I don't want to do the belt myself.
Daihatsu have quoted me £250 to do this, and Lance Owen (General Motors repairs/servicing) have said they can't do it as they need a special tool, does anyone know of any reputable garages in S/W London (Surrey area) where I can get this done cheaply?

Thank you,

Teresa.

Hi Theresa

I don't live anywhere near London so cant give you advice on location local to you, but would suggest you could get prices from Toyota and Perodua dealers as the 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder EJ - VE engine is used in the Yaris and various Peroduas.

£250 doesn't sound too much of a rip off for a city dealer, I believe VW charge about £600 for a cam belt change on a Passat for example. At least you know it should be done correctly!

Thanks for that yrv130! I

Thanks for that yrv130!

I phoned Toyota and they won't change it as I didn't buy the car from them, but I called Perodua and they can do the timing belt including labour, parts and VAT for £122.65.
A big difference, from Daihatsu's £250 price!

Thanks again!!!!

Teresa
