Forum:
My Charade 1.3 auto (M reg) is having difficulty moving off when cold - fine when warmed up. Local garage says that transmission fluid is leaking from the oil seals, but they don't know whether this is just an oil seal problem or a gearbox problem.
I seem to remember reading that Charades have an oil seal history - does anyone know if this is likely to cure the problem or whether it's time to buy a new car... it's only done about 65000 miles and is otherwise in perfect condition - I'd hate to lose it.
And, if I wanted to top up the transmission fluid - is this a garage job or can I do it? And if I can, where does it go? I can't find the manual...
have you seen any leaks
have you seen any leaks yourself??? cos its done low kms...it sounds very odd that it should leak from the oil seals.... so maybe go back to the dealer who sold it to you or check out from another mechanic??? it could be many other things that cause it to lag while cold!
oh, the transmission fluid is easy to top up, look in the engine bay and you will see bout two or three different plastic containers about 350mls size/ Read the top of them and it will say either transmission fluid or power stering among other things, just top up the one that says transmission, make sure you use the right oil though, generally sold at local garages
