Fourtrak and Sportrak

Forum:

Is the Fourtrak and Sportrak called Rugger and Rocky in Japan?

Does the Fourtrak and Sportrak have the same underchassis parts (suspension, drivetrain, etc.)?

Can I put the Fourtrak differential assemblies into a sportrak?

The 4trak is known as the roc

The 4trak is known as the rocky in some countries. I've only heard of the s/trak called a forenza els were. The drivetrain is quite diffrent between the two. No you deffinatly can't put a 4trak diff into a s/trak. The s/trak has silly bango type diffs, whilst the 4/trak has sensible (strong) saiolsbury type affaires. The undercaraige is the same layout on the front (independent torshen bar), though bigger on the 4/trak (I think). On the back however the sporti is cart sprung, whilst the 4/trak is a coiler. Thats for the laiter 4/trak (with the big flairy wheel arches). The earlier 4/traks are leaf sprung live axels all round.

Fourtrak and Sportrak

Thanks for the info. I want to change my differential gear ratios. If the Fourtrak gear sets can't be swapped in the Sportrak, what will, maybe from Toyota?

Don't know about the diff's.

Don't know about the diff's. Are the gearboxes the same. I can't remember back to my Sportrak days. Anyway if so there are several diffrent gearings of transfure box. The highest is for the 2.8 Terbo Diesel. The lowest is out of the 2ltr Petrol. I don't know if the Sportrak diff ratio is the same as the 4/track or not, so can't suggest which you may want. Any help?

To add to Nevs explaination.

To add to Nevs explaination.
What is known as the Fourtrak in the UK, is known as a Rocky in Australia, and a Rugger in New Zealand and South Africa. It also is called a Taft in South East Asia, Indonesia predominantly.
What is called a Sportrak in the UK, is known as a Feroza in Australia, and just to confuse people, its known as a Rocky in the USA.
And no, the drivetrains of the Sportrak and the Fourtraks are not interchangable.
Hope this helps
