Molyslip makes all the difference

I run semi-synthetic 75W-90 plus molyslip in the gearbox and transfer. The box is as smooth as you would like, even from cold. OK, the semi-synthtic aint cheap, but I managed to get some from an auto factors for £15 + VAT for 5 litres.

For a short time a while back (when I was nowhere near my cheap factors) I ran straight 90 in the box. This was so thick when cold that the synchromesh couldn't cope, and I had to double declutch.

I've always used straight hypoid 90 GL5 in the diffs .... very traditional, and well cheaper !
