Applause is stalling...sometimes (car with automatic gearbox)

Forum:

Hello everybody,

This is a dutch Daihatsu Applause driver who is normally very pleased about it's car until recently.

I drive a Daihatsu Applause, 1.6 Automatic from the year 2000.

The problem is that sometimes the car is stalling while driving but also when accelerating from a stand still. When that happens, the automatic gearbox get's confused en shifts up, so you lose all power. I then have to put the pedal to the metal to rev it up and i can drive away from the crossroads for example. It is driving me crazy, because nothing seems to solve the problem and it's not always there.

Already replaced coils, and several temperature sensors but nothing seems to work.

There is something i want to share with you that is making mee confused even more.
I have put the wire from the temperature sensor (the one on the front of the engine that points down in an 45 degree angle towards the radiator) on to the chassis, then when the engine is hot, the problem is gone, but the car's overdrive does not work anymore...

Please help me.

Kind regards

Rémon

First thing to check is the

First thing to check is the automatic transmission fluid level, check it when warm in accordance with the handbook. Low fluid level can cause numerous problem.

You should check if the fluid is dark or brown in colour, or if it smells 'burnt'. This can be an indication of internal damage.

Bin there done that...

Already checked the level of fluid, color and smell, but nothings wrong with that. Can it be because of an defect air pressure sensor?
I also need a picture of the engine or a wiring diagram of the vacuum hoses, just to be shure.
