2" body + Suspension lift

Forum:

Hello everyone. Im new to fourtraks so bere with me please. Ive got a 94 fourtrak 2.8 tdl Indipendent. Ive found where to get a suspension kit from and my brothers making me some spacers for the body lift. Ive read all the other posts about this subject and im still not clear on a few things.
Is it safe to do the 1.5" lift on the front, it want put exess damage on things will it?

To do the body lift i know i need to extend the fuel filler and the 4x4 leaver is it simple to do and how is it done?
The steering colum is ok to extend on the splines? correct?

Cheers Dave

Putting 1 a 1.5" lift on the

Putting 1 a 1.5" lift on the suspention shouldn't put any undue pressure on the running gear. However as you are doing a body lift as well, why not just lift the body by anouther 1.5"?
You are right you do need to lengthen some parts to do the body lift. 4x4 lever just needs a peice welded into it, below the new floor hight. Fuel filler could be done with a new, longer, rubber hose from the filler to the tank (have a look round the scrapies for a fit). If the stearing looks over streched, cut the rod with the splines in it, sleave the two ends left by your cut with some tube. Slide the stearing linkage in the tube so the splines line up where they were with the body was at its original hight. Then weld the tube in place.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

The only other problem you

The only other problem you may have is the transfer lever hitting the tunnel hole. I did a 2 inch lift, and had to play with a few things. I ended up lengthening the transfer lever. But this them interfered with the gearbox lever, so I removed that, and straighted it a bit in a press. Then the lengthened transfer lever was fouling the rear of the tunnel hole, to I enlrged that, and cut the rubber boot between the two levers and put in a spacer.
