Sirion 2 Radio removal - Step by Step guide

Forum:

I thought I'd post this as I spent ages trying to find out how to remove my stereo from my 07 Sirion and i've not found any step by step guides anywhere. I had to remove mine in order to install a Parrot bluetooth car kit, and if anyone is doint that you will need the ISO adapter from Parrot as the Clarion Stereo fitted doesn't use ISO connectors.

This process looks quite long but once you done it once it only takes about 5 - 10 minutes.

Step 1: You need to remove the entire lower part of the dash (the beige colur bit that runs the width of the car and houses the 12v socket) to do this you need to remove 7 screws and 3 plastic clips.

There are 3 screws under the passenger side, 2 under the centre console and 2 on the drivers side (one by the bonnet release and one in the middle below the steering wheel, its on the back of the dash not the front like the rest)

Then there are 3 plastic clips that you prise out with a screwdriver, one in the middle cubby hole,
2 in the cubby hole on the passenger side (one either side, one by the door which you can see and one the other side which you cannot see, so feel for it with your fingers, i missed this clip and broke it so I'll have to get one from daihatsu)

You can then remove the lower part of the dash, start pulling from left to right and it will unclip, you do have to pull hard in the middle but it will come off, disconnect the 12v socket and remove the lower dash.

Step 2: You now need to remove the black and silver facia which houses the ventilation controls and the cubby hole below them.

To do this remove the 2 screws now exposed at the bottom. Then pull off the 3 heater control nobs, they just pull off but are tight so grip then with both hands and wiggle and pull forward.

Once they are off you will see 2 more screws behind 2 of the nobs, remove these. You can now pull out that section, again it may be tight, I undone the glove box to get my fingers behind it, it just pulls forward and off.

Step 3: Now you need to remove the white plastic section which houses the buttons and heater controls, this just pulls forward and has no screws, you wont be able to remove it fully as its attached to cables to control the vents, just pull it out enough so you can get a screw drver in above it.

Step 4: You should now be able to see in below the stereo to a metal bracket with 2 large silver screws with a Hexaganol head on, you need to remove these with a large long phillips screwdriver (be careful not to drop them inside the dash when removing them).

Once these are off pull the entire stereo/vent housing from the bottom and it should come out, disconnect the aerail, speaker and power connectors and that it, job done.

Step 5: Refitting is the reverse of this process.

Hope this helps anyone who needs it, I spent ages trying to find out how to do it, and it was driving me nuts!!!

Thanks

This was very good and helpful indeed! Thanks a lot! I searched millions of times over the internet for this but never found it. Then I decided to search yesterday and found this post! It is very accurate and only took me 15 minutes to complete. Unfortunately however, there is not much that one can add to the factory car stereo since it does not even have a remote wire or pre-out sockets for an amplifier. Maybe eventually I try to replace the original console with a standard one without radio and fit an aftermarket radio.

Stereo adapter

Hi,

The standard stereo is made by clarion but has the toyota connector on the back (as daihatsu is part of toyota and the sirion is a lot of yaris)

You will struggle to find a daihatsu ISO adapter but it is exactly the same as the toyota one which you can buy in any halfords.

One thing to note is that it doesn't have all the wires connected out of the ISO harness, (i.e no mute wire or any aux wires, just has the basic live, earth, switched live, illumination etc..)

Auxiliary input

Does anyone know if there is a phono auxiliary input on the back a 2006 Sirion stereo?

Thought I'd ask before I start removing the dashboard.

Cheers.

Thanks!

Had no idea how to do this until I stumbled on your post. Finally fixed my radio. Thanks a million!

Fascia Trim plate

Does anyone know if the fascia trim plate for the Perodua Myvi will fit a Daihatsu Sirion? Are these cars the same?

Sirion radio

Think the Myvi one is the same, the centre dash is different though as it doesnt have a tray. Just fitted an Alpine Ezi-Dab to mine, really good.
Fitting some rear speakers next to my S model - wiring is already there as just checked
