Forum:

Refurbishment needed as those on our fourtrak have lost a little laquer and have gone a little white looking in places.

Not worth / prepared to have done profesisonally . Can anyone please direct me how to achieve this task. Can the laquer just be stripped with paint stripper , polish the rime with very fine wet and dry used wet and then re laquer - os is it not that simple

Thx

Paul

Save yourself the hastle

Bite the bullet and have them refurbed. £25 a corner will be the best £100 you will ever spend. You'll get a perfect job (which let's be honest you'll not achieve with rattle can laquer and wet and dry)

To be honest, if I knew

To be honest, if I knew where I could get mine done locally (Exeter) for £25 per wheel I would be down there like a shot!

Wheels on my Fourtrak have got exactly the same problem!

Fine when its going but a pain when it's not!

Alloy

Hi

You will not achieve the correct finish without the wheels being blasted to remove every bit of alloy corrosion, then primed, painted and sealed.

£25 a wheel I wish I knew where! The cheapest I have heard was £40 a wheel and you had to have the tyres removed and refitted yourself. I have just be quoted on an Audi 100€ each wheel +VAT!!!

It is worth getting them done properly and any kerbing removed at the same time. If you don't remove all the oxidisation or corrosion they will look good for as long as they take you to do then the lot will bubble up and peel off.

There was someone advertising on EBAY and I think it was £125 a set near Southampton. I live in France so was no use to me.

Get them done professionally, it will make the difference worth the cost.
