Problems with Rear brake pads and calipers

Forum:

Hi,

Can anybody give me any advice / insight in regards to changing the rear brake pads on the Daihatsu GrandMove 1.6.

I have happily replaced the pads on the front in the past, but I can't work out how to release the rear caliper to lift it off the pads so that I can replace them.

There seems to only be one removable guide-bolt - the top one.
The bottom guide bolt does not appear to have a bolt head - it's just got a tiny rubber 'end'.

I tried removing the entire brake assembly, but found that the brake hose did not allow enough play.

Also this approach did not seem to be the most appropriate one.

Any advice welcome.

Thank you.

Help! Still have rear brake caliper problems

Hi,

well it looks like nobody here is any wiser than I am!

I still haven't changed the pads - I simply haven't worked out how to gain access to them.

I'm used to the type where you undo the bottom guide pin bolt and swivel the unit up to get to the pads.

But these rear ones just aren't like that.

There is no lower guide pin bolt - and even if there were, I don't think that the unit is designed like that.

I am starting to think that I am going to have to remove the hydraulic lines and take everything to pieces.

Please - if anyone has any experience / advice please let me know - thank you.
