Anybody know of a engine that which would fit into my Charade GTI 1998 1.3 16v??? 1.6 16v would be good but turbo even better, any ideas anybody? And anybody know where a can pick up a bodykit to fit the Charade? Can see nice little project coming on.

Ive actually done this
Ive actually done this conversion on my 98 gti, i actually got my engine out of a charade 1.6 gsxi (this has slightly more agressive cams, and aslo a 4-2-1 manifold standard.) but the same engine is also fitted in the Grande Move, and also in the daihatsu applause saloon car. U could use the engine out of a sportrak if ya wanted but u would need to swap to change the sump, cause the one on the sportrack is slightly diffrent. The standard 1.3 ecu will actually run the 1.6 engine so theres no chompping of wire or nout to do. I only had to swap 1 sensor over, and all the wring loom of the 1.3 simply plugged right into the 1.6. Its an easy cheap hassle free power upgrade. It is possible to fit the turbo engine, but is more of a hassle and requires a lot of wiring modifications, Ive actually bought a charade gtti now, and am looking to sell the 98 Gti with this conversion already done.

How much you selling the Charade for?
What sort of price you looking at to buy 1.6 engine? any ideas where i could get hold of 1 cheap and all the parts needed? Also you dont know where i can get a chip for the charade?

Theres no chip available for the charade the only option youve got is to maybe get a fully programmable ecu, such as a motec,link,omex,megasquirt. There might be anonthere way tho, the ecu of the 1.3 gti actually has a piggyback board on the ecu as standard, heres a picture of mine:
its mabe by BBR-GTi and i think it might be programmable, but ud ave to contact them and find out.
