Suggestions? Having erection problems - HiJet wing mirrors - can't keep them up, frustrating for my wife!

Forum:

My stupid wing Shok mirrors on my Hi-Jet won't stay in a fixed position when I'm
'jetting along' at more than mach 45mph. They just started doing this.

What I'm looking for is either some sort of adhesive or seizing compound to
tighten up the ball and socket joint or else a more effective assembly from
a different vehicle.

I heard somewhere that it is possible to put other
mirrors on. Don't know which type.

Any thoughts from anyone appreciated. Not too familiar with tricks of the
trade or different products available. Thanks!

Hi-Jet mirrors

Had the same problem when i had a Hi-Jet.
Have you tried tightening them with the screw at the bottom?
Think i widened the adjuster gap, using a small file, to allow the screw more squeeze on the ball joint.
If not take them off and put a small amount of LOW strength Nut/Thread lock in the ball joint.
Get them quickly back in place and adjust to suit.
Make sure its low strength easy dismantle type or you will be unable to adjust it after.
Hope this helps.

Hi-Jet mirrors - Thanks Dave

That stuff sounds like just the solution I'm lookin' for. And yeah, I tightened the bolt. But the plastic clamp inside snapped.

It just wouldn't tighten the joint. I think this is a bit of a flaw in the design. After the clamp broke inside, I made up a nut, longer bolt, and washer combination to further tighten the plastic piece inside. I put a washer under the head of this bolt, on the outside of the mirror casing to give it more strength. This worked a bit, but because it's plastic on steel, it'll never tighten up completely.

Sorry to go into so much detail on this, but if the others on here see what we've done, they'll know what works and what doesn't. Anyways, thanks again Dave, appreciate your input.
