Sirion 2 Servicing

Forum:

I've just been quoted £195 for a 9000 mile service on my 2007 Sirion 1.0 by my local dealer, but as I will be doing 20000+ miles a year and I intend to keep the car at least 3 years, I would end up paying over £1200 for servicing, not what you expect when you buy a cheap car.

I've had a look in the service book and apart from a few basic checks, (brake pads, belt tensions, air filter) the only parts actually changed are oil and filter. (about £15's worth of bits) therefore I'm paying a labour charge of £180 an hour, outrageous!!!!

Based on this I have decided to do it myself and sod the full service history, as my car will have high miles anyway after 3 years, not having a full service history is unlikely to make much differnce to its value (and I doubt it would be £1200 less)

I checked the warranty details and as long as there geuine or equivalent parts and all checks have been made then there are no problems.

I have a question though that someone might be able to answer, is the 998cc engine the same as the 1999- 2005 toyota yaris engine, as I was going to get the haynes manual for the yaris as there isn't any manuals for the sirion.

Can anyone help?

Changed my mind

I've managed to find a local Bosch service centre that will do the service for £39.99 inc VAT, so I'll just get them to do it instead, and stamp the book.

As the cost of a haynes manual+oil and filter is almost that much.

New EU laws state it won't affect the warranty so I don't think I will ever take any of my cars to a main dealer again unless its for warranty or recalls.
