considering doing the same to my hijet but havnt got round to it yet. i know that mini wheels fit because i've seen it done and these are readily available in all types of size style and colour(try a minimag or website). it depends how much you want to spend. with regards to the comment on your photo, i too am respraying mine, doing it myself though which makes it more viable cost wise. its gonna be a nice ferrari red soon! classy

wheels and spray

Hi and thanks for your help Steve, I will check the mini wheels and see how it goes. Respray, hummm it cost a lot of money but it will definitely look great. I was quoted £700 for it excluding roof (havn't really decided yet. Thanks again.

jhun

well, i have checked out

well, i have checked out alot of wheels, best option is take it down to a new/secound hand alloy wheels dealer and just say you need alloys for the hijet there will go out there way to find one that will fit so there can make a sale, but also this way you will get a rough idea of what fits.....
the main problem is the studs there arent long enough, from the alloys i have tried 85% have fitted perfectly but the studs havent been long enough or there stick out too much the perfect ones are universal 14/15 seen wolf ones on ebay £289 for the whole set......

Can you share your alloy info?

Hey Bus--ty,

Can you share some pictures when you figure out your alloys? I'm keen to get wheels sorted too. None of the shops I've been to seem to have any knowledge about this.

Thanks!

Wheels for my Hijet

I tried a mini wheel on my T reg Hijet this eve but it doesn't fit, do i need to do any mod's i see that somebody posted that mini wheels fit is this true??

Alloys?

First try your local Perodua dealer and see if he would be willing to trial fit a 4.5 x 13 alloy as supplied on the Kenari and Kelisa although you need to be aware that these might not be up to the duty when you fully load the van.

Being designed to suit an old Daihatsu car design the alloy wheels might just fit the van and 8 spoke alloys are a long way from tatty steels, but may probably command a hefty price. I have seen a Hi-Jet in Minilite style wheels but as with much on the market now the range is somewhat curtailed. PLus finding the right off-set will be the biggest headache if the steering gear is not to suffer too much on the wider wheel/tyre combination.

Or you could have the original wheels professionally shot blasted then Chromed; or stove enamelled if they are too pitted to take a decent hard chrome finish, one of the advantages of stove enamelling is the wide choice of colour available so you can colour code your wheels and body.

Chrome is a bit plain jane and getting anything to take on the zinc plate of original minimal hub cap could be problematic although it would be possible to apply some Black or Body colour hammerite to improve the visuals.

The other possibilty is to chat to a Grey importer and see if you can source some alloys from Japan this is a long shot but the factory does things for the home market that we can only dream of, and Daihatsu UK will never consider as a feasible import. I would have a Tanto tomorrow if it was in with a chance of official import but Toyohatsu clearly have another agenda and opening the imported range is not one of them...
