sounds like your cold start advance solenoid isnt working properly it is located on the diesel pump and advances the timing for cold starts

It could also be that you have lost a heater plug. Does the luminess go away within a minuet? If it does your car may just be starting on 3 until number 4 heates up and starts working. An F50 I once had was like this for monthes. Started just fine (no extra cranking) but was lumpy as... for a minuet.
