Hi Hijjeters;

Bought an N reg 993 Hijet 4 months ago which is perfect for my flock of four young children, who have nicknamed it Little Blue. I have to say, my partner and I, and the kids, absolutely love it.

I am not a mechanical man, by any stretch of the imagination (it took me 2 months to work out where the dipstick was, after having flooded with too much oil!), but I'm very happy with the overal condition. The knowledge base appears very low with mechanics on this model, hence joining to not only share my joy, but also to improve my knowledge and understanding as I'm so enamoured of her, that I want her to run and run (hoping to tour France the Pyrenees enflock next year)

She runs great, and I do c. 60mph with bretheren, but upto 80 to and from work. I do have the overheating problems, and I thank posters for info regarding flushing through radiator to overfill, running till fan kicks in, waiting till cooled down and top up, which I'll try in the next week or so. I also note comments regarding the engine cutting out of its own accord, which has happened to me twice at 60 mph. I have gone to slow down/pull over but as speed has dropped to 45/50 kicked back in, with out problems...I concurr that it seems to happen when having down a bit of distance (50 miles and when the petrol is below 50%.

I have a CD (PDF) manual which I'll happily send (free) to owners who need it...its chunky though!

Finally, could you help me with my problem. I get an intermittent 'dump, dump, dump, dump,' noise which increases in frequency/noise level which appears to come from the front/front right. Most days it doesn't happen, and there doesn't appear to be any consistent factors - it might happen at 25 mph or 60mph for 10 seconds or for a minute, and dissapears as suddenly as it appears? As i said i'm a mechanical incompitent, so whilst any thoughts/help would be appreciated, please be gentle/simple with me. Many thanks. Little Blue.
