Forum:

hi evrybody
my sportrack is still idling eratically, i have have changed the timing and retarded it a bit and this has made a marked diffeence. however on long drives she does tend to drop to 600rpm or less and when i reduce speed to put it into 1st gear she cuts out. would this be my mixture or vaccum problem. I have a efi system by the way. A

Also does anybody know how to get brushes etc for a starter or alternator as i need some form some my sportrack.

DIAGNOSTICS

Have a look through the problems on the forum and you will find a diagnostics testing piece I dd sometime ago from the Official Manua. This whould help to identify faults in the sensors.

Soory, can't help on the brshes but there are a number being broke o ebay and you may be able to get replacement units cheap. An alternative would be PARTCO or a good Auto electricians if you can find one.

Brushing up

Brushes are generally available from independent alternator and starter motor reconditioners, or vehicle auto electricians; these are easy to do on your model. Look in the yellow pages for local suppliers and see if they will supply a set, the last time I did a set (2006) they cost me £8 for a set.
