veg oil

Lots of info on site.

I run 50/50 Rapeseed oil/diesel. I buy new veg oil from local supermarket in 3 lt bottles. Bit of bind
getting rid of the empties though.

Mixing

Never bother with pre mixing. I just top up with half the quantity of diesel to fill tank and purchase veg oil ,then top up with veg at home, never had a problem. No mods needed, just carry a spare fuel filter just in case the new mix flushes any crap out of the tank.

Low winter temps have not caused any problems, cold weather starting is not any problem. ( I only use NEW Rapeseed oil, not recycled
chip shop oil)

Be careful

Be very careful doing this because i believe you can get in trouble with HM customs and Excise unless you are permanent off road or have declared it, but dont qoute me its just what i have heard, its basically because once again you are not being taxed properly, as if we arnt taxed enough!!!!!

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

veg oil (SV0)

As I understand re a posting on this site by antraxx69 as of 1/7/2007 duty is not payable, as long as you only use/produce less than 48Lt per week. Full details in antraxx69's post.

svo

according to C&E as long as you dont use more than 2500 ltrs per year you donot have to pay any duty or tax on it, that was the stand on 01.08.2007 but you must keep your receipts for a period of six years

footnote i beleive that golden west transport (mcdonalds haulier)are using the used McDs stuff as fuel

and runnig svo wont hurt the truck it will make it smoke on start up and the more svo you use in relation to derv the bigger a bitch it is to start and i have run on 100% svo cos i is poor just keep a can of easy start on stand by for the cold winter mornings and chuck some injector cleaner down its neck every so on.

to be honest i havent changed the filters in over a year and when i had the thing moted it flew through the smoke test with less than 0.25 reading.

the only problem i have come across is that i have a slight leak from the fuel pump, did svo cause this i dont know but as the mot man said "svo isnt a reconised fuel therefore you cant be leaking it can you" anyway just means i havent got to wax oil the underside this year
