Resetting the Imobiliser

Forum:

to cut a long story short the Imobiliser on my Sporty has kicked in and I need to reset it. I phoned my local dealer and they say it has to go on the diagnostic machine to be reset, £65 plus getting it to the dealers.

Am I going to have to go down this route or does anyone know of another way I can reset it myself? Any help much apreciated.

Try this ............

Do you mean it won't synchronise with the car?

Remove the handset battery. Press and hold each/one button for at least 10seconds to discharge the capacitor. Refit the handset battery. Point the handset at the car and press 'lock' 4x in succession. The immobiliser should then be synchronised to the car.

If that fails then pray!

Thanks for that, but I meen

Thanks for that, but I meen the immobiliser has kicked in and it wont start, no lights on the dash when you turn the key, its dead, D.D.

OK try this ......

Another trick used by the AA .... completely disconnect the car's 12v battery. Leave it out for 10 minutes and then refit. De-electrifying often re-sets the immobiliser and reactivates an immobilised engine. PS ... dont tell car thieves ! Smile

PS .. did you try refitting the hand-set battery and discharging the capacitor etc Unknw Try it since it should syncronise the hand-set with your car.

I tried disconecting the battery but did not leave it for that long, I will try it again later in the week when I am home earlier as its getting dark when I get home at the moment and the Sporty is outside. I will also try the hand set as it has a mind of its own at times and may need re-setting. I will let you know how I get on. Thanks again. D.D.

I have now removed the battery from the car and charged it for 4 hours and reinstalled it, still no lights on the dash when you turn on the ignition. So I took the battery out of the hand set discharged it etc and still nothing unfortunatly.

I believe there is a fuseable link in the system, anyone know where it is located? just an idea as this would give the same effect if it were to blow.

Hope you fitted a new zaper battery.

Just a quick one ..... try a new battery in the handset. Discharge the handset, fit new battery, aim at car and press 'lock' many time [5?].Let us know the result.

Fuseable links are in the area arround the 12v battery. Also trace the wires from the alarm unit back towards the battery - look for any in-line fuse.

In which location are you? There is a very good expert near B'ham.
Recently replaced my discovery tdi handset & 433Mhz box. Remote has a website.

I have finaly tracked down a battery for the zaper, but its still no joy. As the alarm does not look like a Daihatsu one, the zaper has Tech-tronics on it, I may have to try removing it if all else fails. D.D.

Thanks, I am hoping to find the box in the car to-day to get the model number, I have also made a note of the numbers from the board in the zaper and I will give them a ring. D.D.
