I have got my place on the Mongol Rally 2008 starting in July, the vehicle that we use is a 1998 R reg Hijet 1.0L EFI Panel Van.
The van is broke at the moment with all the classic problem of overheating , boiled the engine will not start. Andy my team mate a builder and myself an Electrician will get it going over the coming months and stay going over the trip.
I’m sure someone has done this before so any information would be of great help. If anyone would like to help please step forward and put up your hand, if your living in Wales all the better.
The Van has only done 25,000 miles (or so they say) and ex Disability van that has been sitting in a garage for sometime. Andy has had a look and said that two op the pots have a oily look on the sparkplug, there is a good spark on all three but when he filled the Radiator with water is just vanished (have to try again on a dry day). We are going to take the head of to see if there is anything major and will get back to you.
I will be on here asking silly question about repair because the CB 42 engine must be a military classified secret as there seems to be hardly any manuals or books on it
