Which are the best halogen lightbulbs for the YRV?

Forum:

Hello & Merry Christmas,

Just been contemplating about getting some new Headlamp Bulbs for the YRV. Out of a matter of interest which ones will they take? Looking at getting the best light possible as I have found the ones I have arn't too bad, but could do with being a little brighter. Any recommendations?
Are these easy to install? Tried changing a light bulb on my sistsers Ford KA the other day, and ended up telling her to take it to a garage after nearly taking half the skin off the back of my hand, and thats before getting to try and get to the light bulb, who then had to take the front bumper off just to do the job. >Sad

Bulbs

Merry x-mas to you and all.
Cant wait to spend your x-mas money can you Smile
The bulb type is H4 for the headlights.
Be carefull which you buy there are so many out there at all sorts of prices.
With plastic lensed lamps the bulbs should be made with quartz glass so its UV filtered. The cheap ones might say they are but how can you be sure??
I use OSRAM SILVERSTAR 50% brighter Xenon white, dont like the bluey type, although my Xenon white LED side lights look a bit bluey Scratch one-s head
Osrams are not a bad price too, other good ones are Philips power2nite etc...., very similar but cost much more, Bosch, Ring etc but dont have good write ups. Bear in mind it all depends on the headlamp styling and design and conditions when they conduct all these tests. Brands like Halfords are made by someone else too.
Go with a name you trust and a price that pleases, expensive does not always mean best!

Using OSRAM Night Breakers

For those looking for replacement bulbs for the YRV. I have now purchased some OSRAM Nightbreakers from Powerbulbs.com. @ £23 they are a very good bulb with a nice white light. Also when I ordered I got a some free philips sidelights thrown in which would of cost me £9.

YRV Bulbs

Are the YRV and the Sirion bulbs the same?? if so Daihatsu Dealers sell some high power headlights for the Sirion as optional accessories. These include bright white and xenon.

I think I am going to get them for my Sirion and I am not sure if you could use them for the YRV too.

The price is about £18 for the more expensive and £13 for the Xenon

i have just fitted some Philips X-treme power 80% cent h4 bulbs to our Sirion from www.powerbulbs.co.uk, Shok very good bulbs and bright beam pattern but they cost £25 for the set, but you get what you pay for..... hope this helps
