Hi all,
I have a YRV 4trak and this evening i noticed a squealing noise from the engine. It runs as normal but i just wanted to check this is likely the fan belt?
Does that sound about right? It is an '03 model with about 28k on the clock.

Not noticed anything with my YRV and that's on a 53 plate. Could be the belt needs replacing. Best way is to to try and have the bonnet up and rev the engine to see if you got an idea where it's coming from. When did the car have it's last service?

A problem of hard belts due to cold winter weather plus slackness in the belt or oil contamination. It tends to occur more when you are drawing power for lights in the evenings.
I would try and ateempt to tighten the belts but don't over do it or bearings will get knackered. Check the condition of the belts and for oil. I think come the warmer weather the belt material tends to become more flexible and the problem goes only to return in the winter. I have replaced my belts during 2007 and adjusted them since and I still have the problem when using Lights etc in the evening.
