YRV on the drag strip... Costly

Forum:

Hi guys all the from South Africa

I got a 2002 1.3 YRV (not the turbo) and this is my story...

I bought the car brand new and 2 months later I found out the turbo YRV was released Sad naturally I was pretty pissed off that I was stuck with the stock one. Anyways I kept the car and had the idea of turbo charging my stock YRV but never got around doing it. I’ve still got the car believe or not and Im still loving it! Being a petrol head I drive the car pretty hard and even race it at some drag events it’s an awesome little car BUT its cost me allot in the past 2 years.

Iv replaced the manual 5 speed box once, clutch once, and those thin side shafts gave up not to long ago.. Yes I know it’s my own fault but I love showing all the other little cars what this little 1.3 can do. I mean I’ve taken out 1.4 polo’s and Toyota corolla 1600 sports on the drag strip on video to prove it. The car is pretty stock... Got a sports clutch, simoter cone filter with performance exhaust system riding 15’s on 195/50 rubber. Now I really need a suspension kit, but struggling to get one in South Africa. I'm also thinking of doing a engine transplant a 2lt Toyota twin cam power plant but just started researching the idea.
