tyre sizes

Hi, the standard tyre size on your particular truck is 215/80 r15, but i would advise to go for the next size up at least which is 235/75 r15, 215's are really small and if you do any off roading the diff boxes will be your ground anchor, i now run on 31- 10.50 - 15's (255/75 r15) allterrains which are fantastic and dont rub with off set alloys - not standard metal rims, i use 215/80 r15 greenway machos on alloys for off road work cos they have a big tread and will rub on steel rims but wish id got a set of 31.10.5.15's in this tyre choice too because of diff clearance.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Tyred

Tyre size depends upon which type of rim was originally fitted to your vehicle, there were two types, steel and alloy rims.

Your year was fitted with 215x15 or 235x75x15 tyres on steel rims.
Later models were fitted with 235x75x15 or 255x70x15 tyres on alloy rims.

Tyre selection depends upon the useage of the vehicle, 215x15 are good for snow, mud, grass fields, and slushy surfaces as they dig through to the solid ground below.

255x70x15 are better for soft surfaces such as sand, the extra surface area in contact with the ground helps prevent sinking into this soft surface.

235x75x15 are good all round tyres, these cope better with a wider range of surfaces.

As the tyres get wider the profile or aspect ratio gets lower, this is so that the tyre maintains the same rolling radius or circumfirance, thus the wheel and all tyre combinations can be fitted to any vehicle without affecting the speedo, or Daihatsu having to alter the gearing.
