help me to identify a Daihatsu engine in my range-rover?

Forum:

Hi there,

I have a Range Rover 1989 with a 2.8 turbo Daihatsu engine conversion in it. I would like to get a workshop manual from here for engine servicing, but have no idea how old or which Daihatsu engine I have and which donor vehicle it came from.

Can anyone help me identify the engine? What numbers do I need and where should I look for any specific marks on the unit?

Hope you can help.

thx

Being a 2.8 it'll be a DL

Being a 2.8 it'll be a DL engine from an F70 (SWB Diesel) / F75 (LWB Diesel) Fourtrak. If the engin has DG on the rocker cover then it's a converted 2.5 lump from an F50 / F55. Though I doubt that will be the case. If there is no DG / DL sticker on the rocker cover, it's dead easy to tell one from tother. The 2.8 has a rotery (Boche type) Diesel pump, with the injecter lines coming out of the back of the pump. The 2.5 DG has an in line pump, with the injecter pipes coming out of the top of the unit.

Hi there,

Is it possible for you guys to give me a 100% positive ID on my engine before I order some parts and buy a pdf manual? Also, is there somewhere on-line that you can just pick your spares or do you have to lift a phone to a dealer?

Many Thanks

Deffinatly the 2.8 DL

Deffinatly the 2.8 DL lump.
