Wrong gearbox

Forum:

Hi all. I have a '92 4trak TDX. When I got it I noticed it had a manual lever for the 4wd selection instead of the electric switch on the dash. The chap said it had another g-box in it and it had the wires disconnected. I have found that when the speedo says 60mph I'm only doing 50mph. This means I'm working the old girl a bit hard on the motorway! Anyway, my question is this. Is there a different gear ratio between the two types of gearbox, or is it likely to be in the transfer box? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Gubby

There are I belive about 4

There are I belive about 4 diffrent 4trak transfure box ratios. The gearbox and diffs are constant. The lowest is for the Petrol, then the pick-up 2.8, then the normaly asperated F70/75, with the highest being the F70/73/75/78 Terbo. I have been told the F73/78 intercooled terbo is higher again.
