Connections.

First challenge:
1. Remove, clean, firmly attach the battery leads.
2. Remove, clean all the earth connections ... those attached from the engine to the bodywork.
Try the car again.

Assuming its a

Assuming its a Rocky/Fourtrak, it sounds like a major short somewhere. Check the battery terminals are clean and tight, as previously suggested. Then check the main fusable link (short wire with connectors coming off the + of the battery) then check the fuse box for the "engine" fuse to see if its blown.

Shorting

Hi

Yes it sounds as if you have a major short there. Once you have checked all the battery and earth leads then it will be a case of isolationg the culprit area. I would suggest you try first by switching one thig on at a time. Have you checked the fuses an in particular the two on the positive battery take off. These are funny fat spade fuses and the cap on the box comes open. You may find taht one of these has blown and if it is the 20amp item then that kills all the lights etc. Mine went for some reason the other week and is fine now although I had to make up a new fuse socket to take the slim 20amp tab fuses.
