Daihatsu Mira Turbo 660cc Air filter Induction kit ???

Forum:

Hi there

I have a daihatsu mira 660cc engine turbo, Just wanted to know as i bought a cone air filter by K&N universal from ebay. yET I cant fit it because there are two pipes going into the origional air filter and on the K&N air filter theres only one big hole. So something needs to be done about the small pipe.

Can anyone help me please and also tell me ifits easy to install a dump valve?

Thanks

Looks close to the pipe used on the YRV Turbo...

Looks very close to a YRV turbo pipe. At the moment I have a Blitz SUS stainless running on mine. Very similar to this one:

Looks like the pipe on the left handside is acting as a hose to allow air through to the filter.

Blitz do an induction kit

Blitz do an induction kit for the L512S but its £150 !!!! Its very much like the YRV one linked to and has the fittings in the plate for the pipes.

I can tell you from experience that the induction kit is a waste of time on a standard L512S. It gives no perceptable increase in either power, torque or response but the noise makes you sound like some chav with a big dump valve because the return pipe for the recirculating dumpvalve fitted is just downstream of the airfilter case so it blows back out through the filter. I took mine off after a short drive as the car was just embarassing to drive with no improvement with the engine

Dont bother buying one -

Dont bother buying one - make one!
I made an induction kit for my L512S Avanzato using HKS parts and pipework. Makes a massive difference to the induction noise but performance remained mostly the same.
The biggest difference was the downpipe i made to get rid of the cat. I have 64bhp at the wheels now....

Air Filter

actually anykind of airfilter can fit into l2 or l5.size is the factor coz there is not enough space to put in a big 1.
