Check U/Js. has prop been off and replaced out of balance ??. Loose/worn bolts, prop to gearbox/prop to rear diff, are all the bolts the same size ???.

i have just had the same
i have just had the same issue with a newer model, plus i had a slight clinking noise when i was running at slow speed, turned out to be the rearmost propshaft joint buggered, milners 12.50, my problem was the wanker who did the job before me welded two of the caps in, the same caps that had failed, my 12.50 job became a new bloody propshaft, ah well least i have a spare uj
weld?
Weld in the caps???? what a twat, circlips yes, weld NO!
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

yep welded in twat
yep welded in twat was only part of the oration i was spouting when i found out, as the shaft is normally mud laden i did not find out it had been welded till i took it off, by then the order for the new uj had gone in, why welded i dunno, the clips were in as well, got in touch with one well known seller on ebay that says he supplies all parts for traks, quoted £125 for a second hand one, needless to say he is taking the piss in that, milners charged me 176 inc next day postage and thats for a new one
alot?
Thats alot for secondhand shaft, you can buy a complete scrappy fourtrak for £150 easy and get two complete shafts!!

Good vibrations
Hi , youve made the right choice, cheap to fix, run and you will have an endless service life from it if treated right, the only downfall is not quite the off road capability of a good prepped 90, anyway, vibration, whenever i get nasty vibrations on mine rule number one is to rip apart the prop shaft, possible new uj's, lots of new grease and put back together - hey presto vibration gone, this is the other thing with the hard riding fourtrack is its so solid nothng breaks but you feel everything, nice cushion seat required lol

vibration on fourtrak
hi tanks for help with fourtrak going to get it up on the ramps at the weekend and have a look at prop ect the local scrap yards have plenty old nackerd fourtraks lieing around so parts is not a problem anyway thaks for help and i will let u know what happens cheers (terrier blue)
Vibration
Check the UJ's for movement or loosnes. Also check for ytre bulges, not alway obvious and not always on the side walls. The can occur on the top trad wall and will cause vibration and rapid wear of the raised trad. Obviosly check the balancing on all 4 wheels.

Beach Boys Problem
Posts covered the obvious problem with the propshafts, other things to look for are:
Adjustment of the front wheel bearings, any play in them will give this problem; easy to adjust once you've stripped one and know how they go together.
Engine mountings, the offside one tends to wear first, this also gives this problem.
Gearbox mounting on the offside of vehicle worn, this is a bobbin type and wear or snapping off is not obvious but can cause this problem.
Suspension bushes worn, under hard acceleration this may give these symptoms, replace with one of the poly bush kits around.
Back axle worn, not an obvious one, but excessixe wear may cause this problem also.
