Can anyone help me my engine fuse keeps blowing after turning ignition on after about 5 seconds .The glowplug warning light comes on and vehicle will start if you catch it before the fuse blows but when you turn it off it just turns over, also has a major current draw if left for a couple of days battery will be flat {new battery} anyone got any ideas the main engine relay clicks in with ign on and relay next to it also clicks in but obviously both click off when fuse blows there is no obvious dodgy wiring etc i,m drawn to a glowplug problem for some reason any ideas please help !
No idea but .......
Try disconnecting the glow plug wiring and check if the battery continues to discharge. Obviously you will be without the car whilst the wires are disconnected but it will suggest the glow plugs if discharge continues.
Have you checked if the correct fuse rating is being used for the engine fuse?
battery draw
Do a fault finding test to find your battery draw, get a digital electric tester with prongs, take of the negative terminal on battery and connect one end to the neg wire terminal and other to the battery neg terminal, switch tester on to the 20volt setting, this will show a figure on the lcd screen, now the figure it shows is the amount of power the battery is chucking out to run whatever it is, now one by one go round and pull out fuses all over the vehicle, push back in if not the culprit, when you find the fuse it will probably flash because it sounds like quite a draw of power, what mods etc has the vehicle got? it could also be a relay problem on the ignition side.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
