Hi Jet 1300c

Forum:

I have just purchased a Hi jet people carrier, it is a 1297cc, I have only owned this a few weeks. I have a major problem, It broke down on a short journey home, engine made a terrible noise and came to a hault, I have since discovered that there is some sort of lead missing, there appears to be two of these leads with a long probe on one end and the other end connecting to an electrical socket, please can anybody tell me what these are and what they do and were I might me able to obtain one as it seems to have been total lost on the roadside and would anybody have any idea what might have caused this problem.

More information

Can you give more information? Are the leads in the engine compartment under the seats or somewhere underneath the van? Are they spark plug leads? Post a picture in the 'images' section for us to see and we may be of more assistance.

If it's any help, E-bay has a few breakers that can send you used replacement parts at a hopefully reasonable price.

Otherwise, Womoco.co.uk can probably help you. See their website for contact details.

i have posted an image of the engine, in the car images section, & the hole where the missing lead/plug has come from can be seen. the remaining lead/plug can be seen in the foreground, & the connecting socket for the missing lead can be seen above & slightly to the right of the hole. hope this is of some assisstance to you.

missing lead

i have posted an image on the cars section for you to look at, hope it helps. you can see the hole where the lead/plug has come from with its connecting socket above & to the right of the hole

It's a HT Lead so as stated

It's a HT Lead so as stated go to a motor factors or car spares shop! Local scrap yards maybe especially if there the same on other Diahatsus. I've never checked or needed to. I definately have't lost one or two! nor has anyone I've know!

Hijet failure

These leads I assume once numbered 4 and the two remaining go down into the engine? If so these are the HT plug leads.

It is very rare if not almost impossible to loose two or even one unless whoevr connected them didn't push them home. The result would be that two cylinders would stop firing bringing the van to a juddering halt and probably the engine would then stall. As I said this would be odd but I suppose possible.

If you assertain that these are indeed missing then get a new set. Most Motor factors will either have them or get you a set. I wouldn't bother with Halfords or the main dealer try Partco or the like or your local accessory shop who will get them for you. If it isn't these then I would need a picture but I am pretty certain that it will be these but how you lost them would be only answered by the prat who put them in or in this case didn't correctly.
