Ok, I changed out my fuel filter, but not before disconnecting another hose first, only to find out, upon doing a bit of digging, that it's the Outer Vent Hose.

What is this for?

I don't know if it's supposed to drop down and go nowhere (like the tube coming off the overflow reservoir on the cooling system) but mine does. Should it connect up to something at the opposite end of the one that connects to the carb body?

Honestly, it's a wonder my car even starts cos I've done some major repairs but obviously don't even know basic stuff when it comes to it.
