BUMPER FIXINGS

Forum:

Hi all

I noticed recently that the 4 corner segments of the bumpers on my 1996 LWB Fourtrak are only held on with 1 bolt! The bolts are those special dome head carriage bolt type things and I assume I need to use these as the MOT wont like ordinary bolts sticking out the bumper. Can anyone tell me where I can get these easily please?

Nuts and Bolts

Dome headed bolts are available from engineers suppliers, or specialised fastener suppliers, many companies will supply small quantities and show you what they have.

Any external fixings or fasteners on vehicles have to be smooth so as not to injure anyone coming into contact with them, ironically; you can run someone over and kill them, but in the process you cannot cut them.

One other fix may be to use roofing bolts, they come with a 6mm thread and have a double slot in the head, insert and fill the slot with body filler and smooth, paint to suit.
