Forum:
hi i have a 96 sporty and have read posts elsewhere about getting my front diff welded. alot of it all sounds positive, however i was wondering about whats its handling would be like on the road? I was talking to some one about it and they said that i would need manual locking hubs, is this the case?
Does anybody know where i can get it done in either bude/barnstable area or portsmouth area.
and also any other advise to give me?
Very many thanks
Tom
not on road
You will definitely need manual locking hubs fitted to know for a fact that the diff is not gonna turn when driving down the road, otherwise - A you aint gonna go round that corner and B bang go all your cv joints, beware of welding up diffs/difflocks, dont forget they are not fitted on the vehicle from the factory for a start - i.e they are not designed for it although used carefully you can get away with the extra stress on the cv joints, but get spares in just incase.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
