Sportrak Radiator - difference pre/post 93

Forum:

Hi all,

Having recently found I need a new radiator for a 92 Sportrak, I'm just wondering what the main difference is between the pre 93 and post 93 design.

As far as I can see (I have 3 of them, a 92, 93 and 95) the top part of the radiator is a bit shorter, the radiator cap neck is longer and the small pipe off the top to the block comes off the neck rather than the top. However there is an extra pipe down the bottom right (as you look from the front of the car) that seems to go to what I guess is an oil cooler mounted behind the oil filter.

I can get hold of a rad off a 95 car, but as yet not found any older ones. The question is will it fit, and can I just block this smaller bottom pipe off?

Many thanks
Andy

Rads

I replaced the oe on my 1991 with a new one which had the additonal outlet on the boyyom tanks. I blocked it off with a bit of heaterhose sealed with a piece of 14mm copper with soldered end stop and of course 2 Jubille clips. Been fine for 3 years. A firm on ebay supply these new for about £105 (item 150151174251). They have the short top neck.

Get it recored.

Why bother to fit another knackered radiator?
Get the old radiator recored for about £100. A recore is as good as new.

Radiators

Try Serck Marston, they will recore your existing unit, no problems with different years, they stock all the cores.
Cost around £60 for trade users and will be done in one working day, fully refurbished and guaranteed.
