Non starting Fourtrak - Help!!!!!

Forum:

My Trak failed to start this morning. It was running fine yesterday, but today I flattened the battery trying to start it. It usually starts first turn of the key. I run on a veg oil/diesel mix , so while the battery was charging I thought I`d change the fuel filter as a precaution. The old filter had a bit of crud in it, but once fitted I found it wasn`t priming up . I took the inlet pipe off and sucked some diesel through , but when the pipe was back on it seems fuel isn`t getting through . I can`t see any leaks from the fuel lines underneath , so I`m baffled. Help!!!!!

Could be the 'down pipe'

Could be the 'down pipe' within the tank has developed a leek. I had an F50 do this once. Means air gets into the fule line, and the fule runs back to the tank. As the leek is within the tank, you can't see it. Posible you have more suck than the lift pump, and the pump can't keep the fule up. Or there is just too much air in the mix toi ignite?

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Fueled

Check the non return valve in the fuel filter housing, these sometimes go which allows fuel to run back to the tank when the vehicle stands for a period of time. Considerable cranking is required to prime the system with fuel, this often results in the fuel pump and injectors becoming filled with air requiring the whole system to be bled, not a common problem, but not uncommon either.
