[b]Hi there...can you help a new Sportrak owner??,
I have just purchased my first ever Daihatsu. A little 97 Sportrak ELXi and she is a beauty. Needs a little TLC but am looking forward to putting the time and effort in to the areas that need attention. Have checked out some of the forums and thank you to those who have led me to the various paths of online service manuals. Is the download copy any good for the Sportrak?? I know its £15 but is it any good?? I have to admit I kind of panicked when I discovered Haynes never produced an owners working manual for this vehicle.
I would also like to ask are there any specific websites that I can purchase a good aframe bull bar and running boards bearing in mind I live in Northern Ireland and there is not the same availability of scrap dealers here as there would be on the mainland. I would also like to invest in a set of spotlights for her. Do I need to boost/upgrade the battery to run these? Im not talking a million watt bulbs but enough to enhance the light quality especially coming into the darker nights.
Also (if your still reading this) for future reference,..where would I be looking for materials/parts etc if I were to invest a little more time and money by increasing wheel sizes, fitting bigger axles etc and raising her a few inches. A mini monster truck so to speak..
Many thanks for reading my essay of questions and answers on a postcard to:-

Thanks

Upgrades
Read the past forums for advice on all manner of upgrades, these provide much useful information from owners completing these mods.
Upgrading lighting should be no problem, most models were pre-wired for spotlights, you will need to find the appropriate fuse in the fusebox, and the relay holder. Fit a fuse, relay, and run the wiring from the relay to the lights, a dash switch should be fitted to the dash, and a warning light MUST be fitted to show when the lights are on.
Wiring them into the full beam means that when full beam is selected, the spotlights come on, as the vehicle has a warning light to show when they are on, they are legal.
