''''''''#brakes on a fourtrak

Forum:

I am close to buying a 1991 fourtrak and have looked at two today. Both drive well and I was impressed, but both had rather feeble brakes, they felt spongey and seemed to take ages to bring us to a halt. Is this normal on a fourtrak and is it expensive to remedy if it is a problem? Thanks Strikergreg

Several factors.

Spongy brakes could be:-
1. Needs new pads
2. Needs the brake fluid replaced.
3. Air in the system due to leaking cylinder/caliper/master cylinder.

Each is no problem if your prepared for DIY.
If your not into DIY and buying from a garage, ask for a full MOT and brake overhauled.
