Jumping out of 4wd low

Forum:

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the Daihatsu 4wd world.
I have a problem with my 2L petrol fourtrak on a E plate it keeps jumping out of 4wd low.It works fine if you hold it in by hand and there dosent seem to be any strange noises coming from the transfer box.
As any body got any ideas for a quick fix or is it a transfer strip job.
Thanks Kev.:)

Hi. don't worry they do that

Hi. don't worry they do that. There is this fork shaped selecter that gets a bit worn. It is changable without to much prob. but to be quite honest the best answer it a bit of bunby cord to hold the lever in place. This solution will probably outlast the rest of the car. It usually does.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Thanks for the reply Nev.K.
What i might do is strip the transfer box down and replace the selecter fork.Because the rest of the box is perfect and i need to have the 2wd low working, becuase i am going to have ago in some serious off roading next yearLOOKING FOWARD I CANT WAIT!!,after i have done some welding and made a rollcage etc.
Is There a easy way to strip the transfer box without removing the gearbox?
Or Has Anybody got any decent workshop manuals for the fourtrak?
(not Haynes if poss)I think there crap.
Thanks Again Kev.
