Hi-jet diesel (six seater) - question about running costs

Forum:

Daihatsu Hi-jet diesel (MPV six seater)

I have four kids and I'm looking for the cheapest to own and run vehicle with at least six seats.

Can anyone please tell me what MPG you get out of these vans, what sort of insurance costs, cost of parts and are they any good!?

If anyone can help and does reply - thanks in advance.

Hijet

Yes they are cheap to run , my wife and I nearly bought one a few years ago but we bought a Seat Alhambra instead cos the diesel models do about 45 mpg we loved ours and were more confident with the safety of our kids in the unlikely event of an accident but it does depend on how tight your budget is and whether you enjoy driving or not , just dont expect your hijet to be nice to drive cos they arent but YES they are cheap to run and maintain but as ever get one with service history cos that little engine has to work very hard to make it go especially when its full of people

Good look with whatever you choose but my money would be on something a bit bigger and more comfortable but thats just me.

If in doubt give it a CLOUT!!
If it won't fit you are not hitting it hard enough!!
Hit it harder than you thought you needed to!!
