whats better

Forum:

hi all does anyone have any idea whats better for off roading the leaf sprung fourtrak or the independant cheers

I think the general concensus

I think the general concensus is that coil sprung vehicles are better.
However I don't own a Fourtrak so cant give actual experience.
That said, tyre choice is no.1 priority imho.
Anyone care to add views?...

Stone.

choice

coil is better than leaf sprung there seems to be more travel off road and a better ride, both off and on mine works for a living towing chippers and trailers on fields and tracks and touch wood no problems dave.

Depends what you want to do w

Depends what you want to do with it.
For playing a leaf sprung short wheel base is probably better. Only becouse it is smaller, and will there for fit down tighter lanes, and round tighter trial courses. If you want a purly off road toy, I'd sugest an F20 (if you can find one worth having) as it is about as small as a decent 4x4 gets. I found the leaf sprung F80/70 was also far better for towing heavy loads, as it was more stable.
The coiler is definatly more comfortable as a Chelsea Tractor. It also has far more axle articulation on the rear end. I had mine in a cross axle where the lowered rear wheel was right out of the arch, and stil in contact with the ground.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
