Forum:
Hi all, very new to Daihatsu, bought my first M reg sportrak ELXi at the beginning of the month and am thoroughly enjoying it. Its got 110k on the clock and has been serviced by a very nice young lady every 6k so its well looked after. When she was showing it to me she did mention there was a random leak that occurred when it rained, but not every time it rained. The leak causes water to gather under the drivers side carpet absolutely soaking the foot well. She seemed to think it was running in from the steering column and during the last couple of days with the terrible weather i seem to agree with her, it does appear wet on the column. She told me that she had tried all sort to seal it all up, even replacing a gator or bush that she felt may have been letting water through. Its definably rain water in the footwell - and its fresh, not oily, fuel or stagnate. I was wondering if any of you beautiful people had suffered any similar random leak and had got to the bottom of it. Otherwise after every time i get this certain type of rain im going to have to be mopping out my foot well! Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance. Richard
I'll bet the windscreen is
I'll bet the windscreen is leaking along the bottom and/or side seals. You can get some stuff from Halfords or wherever to bring it back to standard.

Heater Matrix
Is the heater matrix is leaking?
Is the carpet wet under the radio and down the side of the central tunnel?
Heater Matrix / Windscreen
The water is only there post rain - and the whole drivers side floor pan is wet. I think it may well be the windscreen - thanks for that. Is there anywhere specific you found it leaks through? Or is it just a case of blitzing the whole thing? I did think it could have been drain holes blocked, and the channels feeding the water away from the sun roof overflowing into the drivers side well but the windscreen makes more sence! Ill have a crack - Cheers! Richard.
Skylight.
Another drip site is the roof. The roof skylight forms condensation which commonly drips into the drivers foot-well. The lower cover/insulation of the roof light sits proud of the steel. The condensation runs to the edge of the skylight and drips. It is very noticable in winter.
Also check the seal between the roof and the skylight .... is rain water running through the sky light?
leaky weld
Well.....think I have located the leak, stuck a hose pipe down the grills infront of the windscreen, the weld behind the drivers side pedels weaps water through, im going to mastic it up unless someone has any better option....Other than a new weld of course! Cheers for all your help
