Hello there
I have a Sportrak that is difficult to start when cold. I have to turn the ignition key five or six times to get the engine to start and then it sounds rough for about one minute. During this period, if I touch the accelerator too soon, the engine decelerates. It is an injection model. I've poured Redex in the tank.
I've checked the seals on the injectors and changed them.
I've changed the air sensors.
I've changed the oxygen sensor on the exhaust.
I've changed the ignition leads.
I've timed the engine.
Once the engine has run for the initial minute and warmed up, the vehicle pulls fantastically.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd welcome them!!! Thanks.

Sounds like a falt with the auto chock. Quite offten they go wronge and stay open too long. Sounds like yours might have gone the other way.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

your cold start gate could be blocked? (not sure if these have them) otherwise miniman is right, look for electics. itll be dampness which will clear once the car starts to get warm.
had this problem before. investigate the usualy suspects, distribution cap, rotor arm, leads and finally coil.

COLD START PRBLEMS
I have a similar problem. Has the problem apeared during te winter? Mine is caused by dampness getting into the terminal at the bottom of the Coil (LT Leads). I have a new one to, I hope cure the problem. A quick spray of WD40 on the terminal will usually clear the moisture and as you say once the engine is warm the problem goes as the mositure evaporates. You should also have a look at the condition of the disi cap and the Rota arm Although the car has electronic Ign. these two parts are still used andimportant. Any corrosion on the Rota tip should be cleaned off on the rim of the tyre and not filed off as this will increase the gap between the tip and the terminals within the cap. This will worsten your problem. If there are any cracks, deterioation of terminals or tracking marks around the inside of the cap then replace. Dampness in the cap will cause starting problems but again will cure once the engine warms.
Good luck
