re misfire
sounds suspiciously like a blocked fuel filter to me,also do daihatsu,s have a fuel lift pump like on a 200tdi 90? if so replace it for a new one,but check all the basics first
Flowing
Sounds like a fuel starvation, or contamination problem.
Assuming the vehicle is well serviced and the diesel filter is ok, check the following:
Air leaks at all flexible hose to metal line joints.
Check the fuel tank breather is not blocked, this gives this problem, remove the fuel filler cap and try to start the engine, an immediate start proves this.
Check the fuel is not contaminated with sludge or water in the tank, and blocking the filter, and ensure the filter water trap is drained of all surplus water, this is located on the botton of the filter.
Ensure the fuel shut off valve is getting its full voltage and it is not chattering ot closing intermittantly.
Ensure the non return valve in the diesel filter housing is working, if not it will allow the fuel to drain back to tank, and take a hell of a lot of cranking to get it back to the filter.
Check for black smoke, this may indicate a worn engine, or injectors.
Missfire
Try buy or you need to use quality parts, for starters. If you're using whatever the cheapest Daihatsu parts at Autozone is, you're going to have problems.
You changed the plugs, but what about the wires? The spark may be arcing out of the wire if it's close to something metal somewhere along it's route. Check all of your wires for hotspots. Also check the connections for corrosion, that's a big spark killer.
