Engine Removal!

Forum:

I will shortly be removing the engine from my F75 2.8 Fourtrak. I have never removed one from a daihatsu, but have on a moggie and many Landies. Is there anything majorly different? I Have had a look and it don't look too hard???...

Engine Removal

Relatively easy job to do, as the moggy, it is a simple installation.

Remove the front panel, radiator, etc to gain frontal access, this makes it far easier; as does removing the bonnet and using overhead lifting gear if available.

If seperating the engine from the gearbox to remove it, it is advisable to drop the engine/gearbox assembly slightly to gain access to the upper offside gearbox bolt which can be awkward to extract.

Totally agree. Very easy.

Totally agree. Very easy. Biggest tip, once everything is undone, apart from the bell housing bolts, lift the enine up and reomove the engine mounts from the block. Then drop the engine right down as fare as it will go. This makes removing the bell housing bolts imesurably easier. A flexi ratchet helps too.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Didn't think it would be too

Didn't think it would be too hard, thinking of removing gearbox + engine all in one. I will most likely remove all of front panels as they are rusted through anyway.
