Forum:
My J reg. sporty has developed a leak from somewhere due to the wet weather. Both corners (door side) of the foot wells are soaking wet after a good downfall. I suspect it could be a leak in the heater but am not sure how to test this theory or if the problem could be somewhere else. Can anybody give me some hints on where to look and test?
Thanks,
Alpha.
Leaky Sportrack
Check the grommets beneath the bonnet but also the rar floor. I have a leak in heavy rain that is mainly on the passenger side and starts on the roof joint runs down behind the plasti b post cover on to the rear floor and then travels along the floor soaking the front footwell. It happens now in both my Sportrack and aI have replaced the seal on the worst, siliconed the joints and all is well until I put the rear carpet down and the leak seems to start again. Check also the floor grommets beneath the carpet.
If you cant find it then get someone to hose the car and sit in it to trace where it is coming from.

Leaky matrix.
The heater matrix leaks down the central tunnel under the radio and not down the footwell on the door side. Hope that helps!
Thanks for your suggestions.

Locating leacky joints can
Locating leacky joints can be a real pain. I know the sunroof sometimes leackes around the hinges. You can test diffrent areas by putting tape over suspect joints then turning the hose pipe on them. The carpet will need to be removed while experimenting, so you can see what's going on.
If all els fails go for the off road answer: leave carpets out, and drill a hole in each corner of the flours.
